I played football my whole lifeΒ so when I felt it was time to close that chapter I was completely lost. I realised I had never developed anything else in my life and my confidence in other areas was almost zero.
I had always wanted to start running but was really shy about running outside. But I went out anyway. I set myself a goal to run 1K, then 2, then 3 β which suddenly became 10 and then 21K.
I just wanted to find something that was MINE. Something I controlled completely. I wanted to prove to myself that I could do what I set out to do.
I did not just find the physical benefits,Β I also found an incredible difference mentally.
After becoming a mother my anxiety took over completely and I turned to running even more for my mental health. I started using psychological methods to improve it WHILE running.
As many of you who follow me on Instagram may have noticed. I am not shy about encouraging others OR myself.
Going from a team sport to running alone with my own thoughts I quickly realised I needed to be my own biggest cheerleader.
